Meet the Team
We recognise that our staff are the key resources in our School, providing the quality teaching and learning that underpins our provision. It is important to us that our staff are kind, caring and mature people who have a love for children and a commitment to the development of the Nursery. So who are we…
Dr Tanya King - Head Teacher
I have been with the Nursery since it opened in 2003, initially as a playworker. This was a big career change but I soon became very excited by the impact that quality Early Years practice can have on children’s development. Having completed my Level 3 Diploma in Pre School Practice in July 2005, I then took on the role of Deputy. Following my appointment as Head Teacher in 2014 I completed my Early Years Teacher Status in 2015.
As well as leading and managing the team, I am in the Nursery as part of the staff team every day. Having a science background I particularly enjoy the excitement and wonder that children experience as they discover the world around them, making connections and extending their own learning.
As Head Teacher it is always rewarding to see each child reach their full potential no matter where their starting point.
Jacquie Moulder - Deputy Head
I have been at the Nursery since February 2015. I started my teaching career at Secondary level, as a Modern Languages teacher and Head of Department, and also in a Pastoral role. I then moved to Early Years’ through a children’s Music Group I ran when my friend was on Maternity Leave. This ignited a love of the younger children so I continued studying to further my knowledge and understanding of the role of Early Years and its importance: achieving a post graduate EYPS.
My children went to St Paul’s Nursery and moved on to St. Paul’s Primary and are now at the Ashcombe. I am proud to be part of the Team I work with and its outstanding status.
My particular passion is Communication and Language and in particular the way music can develop confidence and literacy in children; by using nonsense rhymes and rhythmic tones we can extend the children’s love of languages: what I lack in tonality, I make up for in enthusiasm! We have a great wealth of languages in our Nursery and I love the fact the children are exposed to these and diverse cultures and heritages which we are able to celebrate.
I am currently studying to become a Level 3 Forest School Leader with the Wildlife Trust and we are very excited to include this as part of our Nursery provision.
Katie Davis - Senior Nursery Assistant
I am qualified primary school teacher and have previously taught reception aged children. I have also spent time teaching singing and drama toddler groups locally, I have a keen interest in expressive arts and design. My own 3 children have all attended the Nursery so I am very happy to be part of the team. I love working with young children and watching them develop and grow in confidence.
Mark Williams - Senior Nursery Assistant
My daughters both attended St. Paul's Church Nursery and I was able to volunteer during that time. I was also elected parent representative and regularly attended school committee meetings. This inspired me to study for my level 3 Early Years Educator. This qualification is wide-ranging, covering children's development, safeguarding their welfare and communication. I feel being a man in Early Years' Provision adds a valuable element to the development of children.
Nicola Breen - Nursery Assistant
I joined St. Paul's Nursery in 2014 after my son left the Nursery to go to school. It is such a privilage to be in Early Years Education, getting to know the children, seeing their progress and loving how they make me smile every day! As a Nursery Assistant I love being involved in all aspects of the planning, preparation and activities and especially loving assisting with the development of our Forest School sessions.
We also employ a Treasurer/Bookkeeper, an Administrator and also have regular volunteers from the Church
Community who are a valuable asset to our team.
We feel it is important for you to know who our Administrator is as she will most likely by your first port of call....
Gill Wells - Nursery Administrator
I have been part of the team since 2011 and although I started out as a general helper, mounting children's work to create displays etc. I am now dealing with admissions, administration and parent liaison.
My role helps the practitioners be able to get on with the task of being with your children and extending their development.
Tara Laws - Nursery Treasurer and Bookkeeper
I joined the nursery in 2017 as the Bookkeeper/Treasurer, I have lived in Dorking for 5 years and when my child began attending the nursery and the position became available I was interested in being involved and using my previous experience in Management Services to work with Tanya and the Management Committee to make the best use of our finances. I work closely with Tanya to fix a budget and ensure the Nursery is well resourced and staffed. I will be your first port of call if you have any questions about your funding or billing.
