St Paul’s has built a number of strong partnerships with mission partners around the world. The World Church team is a group of volunteers who maintain these relationships and share the stories of our involvement in God’s work beyond our local community.
Loving all in God’s world
We support a diverse selection of mission partners who keep in touch with the church family by linking with small groups, sending newsletters, prayer requests, and visiting whenever possible for services and sharing lunches. You can learn about our mission partners below, including how to support them in prayer and the ways we can raise money through fundraising events. A Rocha - Caring for God’s Earth
Rev’d Dr Dave Bookless is Director of Theology at A Rocha - an international Christian nature conservation organisation, which focuses on care for God’s creation. This includes liaising with other global Christian networks to ensure creation care is integrated in their life and mission.
Open Doors - Syria
As a result of the war in Syria only a third of Christians remain - just 2.8% of the population. With Islamic extremists in control over much of the region, christians are forced to pay protection money, follow a strict dress code and dietary rules, and cannot express their faith publicly. Open Doors’ local church partners provide vital aid for vulnerable families with Bibles, training, relief aid, trauma care as well as helping displaced Christians to rebuild their homes and livelihoods.
Centre de la Réconciliation - Lille
Through the use of his church, Pastor Christian de la Roque provides shelter to vulnerable refugees on the streets of Lille. Through housing and education, Centre de la Réconciliation leads french speaking refugees to employment and permanent residence in France.
Anti-trafficking Projects - Oasis India
Thousands of poor, vulnerable people in India are caught in the grip of traffickers. Through the allure of money they are manipulated into a network of slavery and abuse. Oasis India aims to prevent human trafficking and violence against women and children and to assist each person to flourish in their community.
New Hope Children’s Centre - Kenya
After being called by God, Anne left her banking carrier in Nairobi to set up 'New Hope', a home for orphaned girls. With support from UK charity Hand in Hand, a purpose built three story centre was built and even includes a school for the resident children.
Penny & Juan Carlos Marcés - Lima, Peru
Penny is the sister of Graham Everness, and attended St Paul’s many years ago. She became a missionary as part of CMS, and went to South America where she met her husband Juan Carlos. They both serve in the Peruvian Anglican Church in Lima where Juan Carlos is an ordained minister. They have 3 adult children, and have been supported by St Paul’s for about 30 years.
Jenny & Stuart O
Jenny was a member of St Paul’s from an early age, and has given her life to being a missionary. After many years in Latin America she and Stuart returned to the UK as they believe this gives them a greater opportunity to have an impact on the many communities where the Bible is not available in their native language. Stuart is a qualified counsellor and helps missionaries integrate in new countries.
Great Lakes Outreach
Simon Guillebaud received a call from God to move to the impoverished country of Burundi in 1999. He set up Great Lakes with the vision to transform Burundi through holistic mission, working with gifted local leaders of integrity, with local churches, pastors and children's groups.
Casa Cruzeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Luke Simone was a UK born lawyer who visited Rio de Janeiro 13 years ago, and realised the huge needs of the underprivileged people living in the favelas. With a team of volunteers and a local Rio church he has built and runs Casa Cruzeiro (House of the Cross), where they provide teaching and support for 70 children and young adults.
